What you needed
- Bulky or worsted weight yarn (100g)
- 6 mm (US 10) round knitting needles (16-inch)
- Stitch marker
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Optional: Pom pom maker
Stitches and Skills
- Cast On – Starting your stitches
- Knit Stitch (K) – The workhorse stitch for texture

Round 1–6: (K2, P2) repeat around
This creates your hat a tight and stretchy edge that fits

Step 3: Main Body
Round 7–30: Knit every round (this produces the smooth
stockinette stitch appearance)
Tip: Want it sloppier? Add additional rounds!
Step 4: K2tog to Shape the Crown
Round 31: (K6, K2tog) repeat around (56 stitches)
Round 32: Knit
Round 33: (K5, K2tog) repeat around (48)
Round 34: Knit
Round 35: (K4, K2tog) repeat around (40)
Round 36: (K3, K2tog) repeat (32)
Round 37: (K2, K2tog) repeat (24)
Round 38: (K1, K2tog) repeat (16)
Round 39: (K2tog) repeat (8)
Cut yarn, thread through last stitches, and draw tight to
close top.
Step 5: Finishing Touches
Finish all ends with your yarn needle.
Optional: Top it off with a pom pom for added pizzazz!
