Reindeer Baby Booties Crochet Pattern

Materials Needed:

  • Medium-weight yarn brown for the boot base
  • White yarn - for antlers and eyes
  • Red yarn - for the nose
  • Black yarn for details of eyes
  • 4.0 mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • scissors

Stitch Guide:

  • SC Single crochet: insert hook, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through both loops.
  • HDC (Half Double Crochet): Yarn over pull through, insert the hook, yarn over, pull through, yarn over pull through all three loops.
  • SL ST (Slip Stitch): Insert hook, yarn over pull through stitch and loop on hook.
  • Step 1: Draft the Sole and the Bottom Part of the Boots

Sole of the Boot

  • Round 1: Ch 10. SC in the 2nd ch from the hook and across, working 3 SC in the last ch; cont working along the opposite side of the ch, sc across and work 2 SC in the last st. Join w/ a SL ST.
  • Round 2: Ch 1, HDC in each stitch around, increasing in each corner to keep the shape oval. Join with a SL ST.
  • Rounds 3-5: Ch 1. SC in each st around. Join with a SL ST at the end of each round.

Helpful Hint: Depending on the size of the baby's foot, start this shoe with more or fewer beginning chains.

Step 2: Making the Top Part of the Boots

  • Start the Top Section
  • Round 6: HDC in each stitch around, join with an SL ST. This is where the shaping of the boot's ankle will be initiated.
  • Ribbed Cuff
  • Rounds 7 - 10: 2 ch, HDC in back loops only in every stitch around; this gives a ribbed effect. Join with a SL ST at the end of every round.

Why it matters: It is comfortable to wear and makes quite a great fashion statement.

Step 3: Add Details of the Reindeer: Eyes, Nose, and Antlers

Eyes

  • Using white crochet yarn, make two little white circles for the eyes.
  • Round 1: Magic circle. Crochet 6 SC into the ring. Pull tight and SL ST to close.
  • Sew each eye onto the front of the boot.

Nose

  • To form the nose, take the red yarn and form a little circle.
  • Round 1: Into the magic circle, crochet 6 SC into the ring. Pull tight and SL ST to close.
  • Glue the nose on the front of the boot just below the eyes.

Antlers

  • White for a default set of antlers. Row 1: ch 7; sc in each st backdown ch.
  • 2nd Row: Chain 3 from any stitch across the row, single crochet back down to form a small branch. Repeat once or twice for branches for the antlers.
  • Glue one antler to either side of the front of the boot, for a total of two antlers.

Pro Tip: Add a few more stitches through the antlers for a little extra strength.

Step 4: Add Finishing Touches

Details and Assembly Embroider small pupils with black yarn onto the white part of the eyes.

Use a yarn needle to sew all the loose ends in to secure everything.

Creative Tip: Add small bells to these boots or any other holiday charm you like.
