Crochet Snowman Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Medium-weight white yarn
- Orange yarn - for the nose
- Black yarn - for eyes and buttons
- 5.0 mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Fiberfill stuffing
- small pieces of cloth or ribbons for a scarf and hat

- SC (Single Crochet): Insert hook, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through both loops.
- DC: Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over and pull through, yarn over and pull through two loops on the hook, yarn over and pull through remaining two loops.
Step 1: Building the Body of the Snowman
It is a snowman, comprising three rounded parts - the base, middle, and head.
1. The base of the Snowman
Round 1: Make a magic circle. Crochet 6 SC into the ring.
Pull tight.
Round 2: In each step around work 2 sc (total of 12 stitches).
Round 3: (SC in the next stitch, 2 SC in the next) around.
(18 stitches total).
Round 4: (SC in the next 2 stitches, 2 SC in the next)
around (24 stitches total).
Rounds 5-6: SC in each stitch around. (24 stitches).
2. Middle of the Snowman
For the middle part of the snowman, follow the same process,
only a bit smaller than the base – you can stop increasing after
Round 4 in the middle part.
3. Head of the Snowman
Make the head by repeating the same process as before, but
stop after Round 3 and make it smaller.
Helpful Hint: Make each layer the size you want; the more
rounds you do the larger your snowman will be.
Step 2: Stuff the Snowman Parts
Add Fiberfill
Once all three parts are crocheted, stuff each section with
fiberfill stuffing. Make sure to fill them firmly but not too tight, so that
the shapes remain soft and cuddly.
Why It Matters: Filling in properly will allow the snowman
to hold its shape and be so cute!
Step 3: Building the Snowman
- Sew the Sections Together
- Using the yarn needle, stitch together the base, middle, and head securely in alignment.
- Create the Face
- For small circle eyes, use black yarn, while for the carrot nose, use a small orange triangle.
- For buttons Using black yarn, sew three small circles down front of the snowman.
Pro Tip: Use safety eyes for a clean, polished look!
Step 4: Add Accessories
Knitting a Scarf Chain a strand of yarn approximately 20-30 inches long, then single crochet back. Makes for a really funky scarf with any colour yarn!
Wrap it around the neck, crossing over, and tie it in a knot.
Make a Hat For an easy top hat, use a little scrap of fabric or yarn.
You can crochet a small circle for the top and a long strip to attach to the base.
Attach it securely to the top of the snowman's head.
Creative Hint: You can
make your snowman special by using differently coloured scarves or hats.
